Rosemary Garlic Bread with a Garlic Butter Candle

Prep: 30 mins + rising time | Cook Time: 40 mins | Course: Baked Goods | Serves: 9

Rosemary garlic bread with a garlic butter candle. This is such a fun and festive bread to make. You can light the butter candle and dip torn pieces of bread into it. This bread recipe is made in a bundt pan so it leaves the perfect space for the candle. You will need a paper cup and a natural beeswax wick with a tab.  Inspired by everyone on Instagram making butter candles and making them look so fun, as well as Lindsey at Girl Versus Dough for the bread recipe adapted to make bundt rolls. https://www.girlversusdough.com/rosemary-garlic-no-knead-bread/

Butter Candle:

1 cup butter, softened

7 cloves garlic

Salt and pepper, to taste

Red pepper flakes, to taste

Rosemary, chopped, to taste

Rosemary Garlic Bread:

3 cups flour

2 tsp salt

1 Tbsp yeast

3 Tbsp fresh rosemary, minced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 ½ cups warm water

Make the candle first, mix softened butter with the garlic, a little bit of salt, pepper, some red pepper flakes, and rosemary for color. Place the wick in the bottom of a paper drinking cup. Spoon the butter mixture around the wick while keeping the wick in the center. Leave about ¼ “ of the wick uncovered for lighting. I had a bit of the butter left over and used it to brush over the warm rolls when they came out of the oven. Refrigerate the butter candle so it sets up firm. When ready to unmold, cut the cup top and tear off the paper exterior.

Layer flour, salt, yeast, rosemary, garlic, and water in a stand mixer and mix for about 2 minutes. Scrape the dough down with a rubber scraper and cover with plastic wrap. Allow to rise for 1 hour. Scrape dough out of the bowl onto a lightly floured surface and knead into a ball. Divide dough into 8 equal pieces and place around an oiled Bundt pan. Let rise, covered with plastic for an additional 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 450*. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes depending on whether you like a softer or more crusty exterior. Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then unmold and brush with a bit of butter. Finish cooling on a rack or breadboard. Place the candle in the middle when cooled and light the candle. Let guests slice or tear the bread to dip in the melting butter.
