Brown Butter Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies
Prep Time: 20 mins | Cook Time: 8 mins | Course: Dessert | Yield: 3 dozen
Brown butter chocolate chip cookies are the very best. Browning the butter loses some of the moisture so these cookies hold their shape instead of going flat. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt after baking for an over the top amazing bite. Inspired by Tieghan of Half Baked Harvest https://www.halfbakedharvest.com/really-good-chewy-chocolate-chip-cookies/
3 sticks butter
1 ½ cups brown sugar
½ cup sugar
3 eggs
1 Tablespoon vanilla
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups dark chocolate chips or chunks
Flaky sea salt, for topping
Preheat oven to 350*. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-low heat stirring until the mixture is foamy and a nutty brown color on the bottom. Remove from the heat and pour into a stand mixing bowl. Add the brown sugar and sugar, cream the butter and sugars together until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla beating until smooth.
Whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips. Mix until incorporated, scrape the bowl and mix again. Scoop into 1 ½ tablespoonfuls onto a cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes, then sprinkle with flaky salt. Serve while a little warm and the chocolate chips are still a bit melty.
