Broccoli Cheese Soup

1 Tbsp butter
1 ½ cups mirepoix or ½ cup each, carrot, onion and celery, diced
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tsp green goddess seasoning, at Trader Joes (or onion blend seasoning)
3 cups broccoli, fresh, frozen or previously cooked
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Saute butter, mirepoix, seasonings and broccoli over medium heat until the onion is softened. Add the cream and cook until broccoli is tender. Break up with a potato masher to desired-sized bits. Stir in cheddar cheese just before serving.
