Coffee Blonde Brownies

Coffee lovers rejoice with this coffee and brown sugar bar singing with chocolate chips and pecans. Fudgy like a brownie but more of a tanned blondie. A favorite from The Silver Palate Girls in their book The Silver Palate Good Times Cookbook.
2 cups brown sugar
¾ cup butter
2 Tbsp instant coffee granules (or 2 tsp instant espresso powder)
1 Tbsp water
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
2 eggs
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to350*. Spray oil in a 9x13 baking dish. In a 2 quart heat proof measurer, add the brown sugar, butter, coffee powder and water. Microwave for 2 minutes. Whisk the flour, baking powder and salt together in a small mixing bowl. Add to the brown sugar mixture stir in with the eggs, pecans and chocolate chips. Spread in the prepared baking dish and bake for 20-24 minutes. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
