Dark Chocolate Chip Mug Cake

Prep Time: 5 mins | Cook Time: 2 minutes | Course: Dessert | Servings:

Melty chocolate chips in a tender crumbed cake microwaved in a mug…danger zone. Amazing chocolate cake is now less than 2 minutes away. This is a great gift idea too; mix dry ingredients and chocolate chips in a sandwich bag and enclose in a mug with these directions printed out. Inspired by Land O Lakes https://www.landolakes.com/recipe/17985/dark-chocolate-mug-cake/

2 Tbsp butter

3 Tbsp flour

2 Tbsp sugar

Pinch of salt

1 Tbsp dark unsweetened baking cocoa

2 Tbsp dark chocolate chips +7 more for topping

½ tsp baking powder

1 egg (yolk only)

1 Tbsp water

1 tsp vanilla extract

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Would be lovely topped with whipped cream, caramel, ganache…get creative!

Melt butter in the mug for 20 seconds or until melted. Mix the dry ingredients and 2 Tbsp chocolate chips with the egg yolk, water and vanilla. Pour into the mug and mix with the butter. Microwave for 1 minute, the cake will pull away from the mug and the top will be dry. Top with a few extra chocolate chips and microwave for 15 seconds more. Dust with powdered sugar (or other topping) just before serving.
