Fruity Pebble Rice Krispie Treats with Nerds
Prep Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 7 mins | Course: Dessert | Serves: 10
These rice krispy treats include a fruity tanginess with the addition of fruity pebble cereal and some tart nerds candies. We also found some unicorn mix sprinkles with little marshmallow bits that we added in, but it’s optional, they are amazing without as well. Oh, and did I mention that some of them were egg-shaped; a delightful project with the kiddos for Easter. ½ cup butter + extra for the baking dish
16 oz mini marshmallows
½ Tbsp vanilla
6 cups rice krispies cereal
3 cups fruity pebbles cereal
½ cup nerds
½ cup unicorn mix sprinkles, optional
Butter a 9.13 baking dish and set aside. Melt butter and marshmallows over medium-low heat in a large stockpot. When all melted, turn off the heat and stir in the vanilla, rice krispies, fruity pebbles, nerds and sprinkles (if using). Press mixture firmly into the baking dish, (you can press a few more nerds and sprinkles on top) and allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Optional, press some of the mixture into about a dozen plastic (washed and dried) easter eggs. Press together and allow to cool before releasing. Butter a 9.9 square baking dish for any leftover mixture.
