Chicken Cream Sauce Angel Hair Pasta

Chicken in a cream sauce with angel hair pasta, lots of garlic, capers, green onions, parmesan cheese, and a bit of lemon so it’s not overly rich or cloying. So good!!!
½ cup butter
1 onion, diced
6 oz mushrooms, sliced
12 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste
Garlic salt, to taste
2-3 cups cooked chicken, cubed
2 cups heavy cream
8 oz cream cheese
½ cup Parmesan cheese, shredded + more for serving
1 lemon, juiced
1 Tbsp capers
2 green onions, sliced
2 Tbsp parsley, chopped
1 lb angel hair pasta, cooked and drained
In a large skillet over medium heat, stir the butter, onion, mushrooms, garlic, and seasonings together for about 5 minutes, until the onion is translucent and soft. Add in the chicken, cream, and cream cheese, stirring for about 4 minutes or until the sauce simmers. Stir in ½ cup parmesan cheese, lemon juice, and capers until the cheese melts into the sauce. Stir the hot angel hair pasta into the sauce. Top with green onions, parsley, and additional parmesan cheese just before serving.
