Mushroom Short Ribs in the Crock Pot

Tender braised short ribs with three kinds of mushrooms cook in a rich mushroom and tomato sauce all day in the crockpot. Delicious over creamy polenta, I’ve included a link below for my favorite polenta.


3-4 lbs short ribs 

1 onion, diced 

7 cloves garlic, minced 

1 Tbsp Italian seasoning 

2 bay leaves 

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce 

1 cup carrots, diced

2 cups celery, diced

8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced

8 oz shiitake mushrooms, sliced 

2 cups dried mushrooms, sliced 

2 15-oz diced tomatoes 

1-quart beef broth 

2 cups red wine 

Place short ribs in a crock pot and cover with onion, garlic, seasonings, Worcestershire sauce, carrots, celery, mushrooms, tomatoes, beef broth, and red wine. Cook on high for 2 six-hour sessions or 12 hours on the low setting.
