Hoagie Rolls
Prep: 15 mins + rising time | Cook Time: 12-15 mins | Course: Baked Goods | Serves: 6
These soft fluffy rolls are so delicious, they make the sandwich even better. We used these with my philly cheesesteak sammies, and wow! Inspired by Rachel Farnsworth at The Stay at Home Chef https://thestayathomechef.com/homemade-hoagie-rolls/#jump-to-recipe
1 cup warm milk
1 Tbsp yeast
2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
3 Tbsp butter, softened
1 egg
3 ½ cups all purpose flour
Layer ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix together for about 2-3 minutes. The dough should evolve into a nice ball that’s just a little bit sticky. Scrape down the sides of the dough and cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Allow to rise for an hour or until the dough ball is about double the size.
Preheat the oven to 375*. Place parchment paper or a silpat onto a baking sheet. Scrape dough onto a lightly floured rolling surface and cut into 6 semi-equal pieces. Form\roll into a hoagie shape and place seam side down on the baking sheet, the ends should look tapered. Allow the rolls to rise for 30 minutes. You can cut a lengthwise line on top if you like. Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until a insta-thermometer reads a minimum of 190*. Allow the rolls to cool before slicing for your favorite sammie.
