Prep Time: 20 mins | Cook Time: 16 mins | Course: Breakfast | Serves: 6
Flaky fish in a cream cheese and green onion puff pastry tart. These upside-down tarts are such a great way to enjoy leftover fish. Enjoy for breakfast or cut smaller as an appetizer.
4 oz cream cheese, softened
¼ cup sour cream
2 Tbsp green onions
1 tsp onion salt
Pepper, to taste
1 tsp lemon zest
1 Tbsp lemon juice
½ tsp garlic powder
1 ½ - 2 cups flaky cooked fish
1 sheet puff pastry
1 cup cheddar or parmesan cheese, grated
Egg Wash:
1 egg
1 Tbsp water
Preheat the oven to 400*. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment or a silpat and set to one side. Mix cream cheese, sour cream, green onions, salt, pepper, lemon zest, lemon juice, and garlic powder, together. Flake the fish on top and fold it into the cream cheese mixture. On a lightly floured rolling surface, roll a sheet of puff pastry a little larger and cut with a pastry or pizza roller into 6 equal rectangles. Place the grated cheese on the parchment-lined baking sheet in a rectangle just smaller than your pastry pieces. Cover the cheese layer with a couple of generous tablespoons of the fish and cream cheese mixture. Place a puff pastry rectangle on top stretching a bit as necessary to enclose over the fish and cheese and press the edges closed with the tines of a fork. Whisk the egg and water together in a small dish and brush over the pastry. Bake for 14-16 minutes or until beautifully crusty and golden brown.
