Chocolate Snowflake Brownie Cake
Prep Time: 20 mins | Cook Time: 20 mins | Course: Dessert | Serves: 10
A simple dark chocolate brownie cake with a powdered sugar snowflake stenciled on top. Rich, yet airy and light feeling on the palate. Inspired by Williams-Sonoma in their Holiday Entertaining cookbook.
½ cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
⅛ tsp salt
2 egg
1 Tbsp vanilla
¾ cup flour
4 oz dark chocolate, melted
Confectionery sugar, for dusting
Preheat oven to 350*. Spray oil or butter a 8“ cake pan that has been parchment lined, then sprinkle with a light coating of sugar. In a stand mixer, beat softened butter, sugar, and salt for 2-3 minutes or until light and fluffy. Add eggs, and vanilla mixing to incorporate, scraping the bowl with a rubber scraper, then mix again. Top the batter with flour and melted chocolate; mixing until combined. Scrape the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Allow to cool completely in the pan. Run a skinny knife around the pans edge and turn out onto a plate, then flip over onto a cake plate so the crackly top is once again on top. Cut a snowflake stencil out of a piece of paper and place it on top of the cake. Dust powdered sugar through a sieve, then remove the template.
