Strawberries, grand marnier and citrus zest combine with cinnamon, vanilla and an amazing almond oat crisp topping. Enjoy with some grand marnier whipped cream while still warm. Inspired by Ashley at Baker By Nature https://bakerbynature.com/strawberry-crisp/ and Sally at Sally’s Baking Addiction https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/strawberry-vanilla-crisp/

5 cups strawberries, hulled and halved

Lemon or mandarin, zest and juice of

¼ cup grand marnier liqueur

¼ cup brown sugar

¼ cup cornstarch

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla

Salt, a pinch

Almond Oat Topping:

1 ½ cups oats

1 ½ cups almonds, or favorite nut

¾ cup brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

½ cup butter, sliced into tablespoons

½ cup flour

Mix the strawberries, citrus zest and juice, grand marnier, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, vanilla and salt together in a 2 quart mixing bowl. Spoon into an 8” square baking dish.

Preheat oven to 350*. In a food processor, layer the oats, nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, butter slices and flour. Pulse until incorporated and crumbly. Spoon most of the crisp mixture over the fruit and bake for 40-50 minutes.  I saved some of the crisp topping for breakfast parfaits.

Grand Marnier Whipped Cream:

1 cup heavy cream

¼ cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 Tbsp grand marnier (or 1 tsp orange extract)

½ tsp mandarin zest

Beat cream and powdered sugar to soft peaks in the mixer, add the vanilla, grand marnier (or orange extract) and zest; mix to incorporate. Spoon a large dollop on the warm crisp.
