Popper Piggies in a Blanket
Prep Time: 20 mins | Cook Time: 12 mins | Course: Small Bites | Yield: 2 dozen
Lil beef smokies rolled up in a spicy cheese crescent blanket and ready for game day. The crescent dough recipe is linked below (or you could use ready-made cans of crescent dough), my favorite is the sourdough crescent dough. Inspired by Halie and Nikki at Deliciously Seasoned https://www.deliciouslyseasoned.com/jalapeno-popper-pigs-in-a-blanket/
8 oz cream cheese, softened
½ cup sour cream
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 jalapeno, diced fine
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ tsp garlic salt
½ tsp cumin
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 green onions, chopped
½ recipe crescent dough (or 2 cans)
2 13-oz pkgs beef lil smokies
Melted butter
Flaky salt
Preheat oven to 400*. In a large mixing bowl, mix cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar, jalapeno, garlic, seasonings, and green onion. Roll out crescent dough into a rectangle about 10.14, then slice down the middle lengthwise with a pizza roller. Spread the cheese mixture in a generous layer. Slice in 1-inch measurements across the dough on the short side. Place a lil smokie on the edge of each measurement and roll it up. Place the piggies on a silpat or parchment-lined baking sheet seam-side down. Bake 12-15 minutes, piggy blankets will be golden with a melty cheese interior. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with flaky salt before serving warm.
