Ahi tuna burgers with a sesame aioli, an Asian slaw, thick tomato slices and thin sliced red onion rings.
Asian Slaw:
8 oz tri-color coleslaw
3 green onions, sliced
½ cup cilantro, chopped
¼ cup olive oil
2 Tablespoons sesame oil
3 Tablespoons rice vinegar
Garlic salt and pepper, to taste
1 Armenian cucumber, sliced
2 tomatoes, thickly sliced
1 red onion, sliced thin
2 avocados, halved, pitted, and diced
Red leaf lettuce leaves, cut bun-size (optional since you have coleslaw)
Sesame Aioli:
½ cup mayonnaise
1 Tablespoon sesame oil
1 Tablespoon miso paste
Ahi Burgers:
4 burger buns, store bought or homemade (recipe ideas linked below)
4 ahi tuna steaks, ¾-1” thick
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1 Tablespoon miso paste
Bagel seasoning or sesame seeds
Mix coleslaw, green onions, and cilantro in a bowl. Whisk olive oil, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic salt, and pepper in a small bowl, pour over coleslaw before serving. Prepare a platter with cucumber slices, tomatoes, red onion, avocado, lettuce if using, and buns.
Mix mayonnaise, miso, and sesame oil in a small bowl and place next to the platter of veggies. Whisk 1 tablespoon olive oil and the miso paste in a small bowl and brush over the ahi. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or bagel seasoning. Preheat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the ahi tuna for about 2 minutes per side for rare ( or longer if someone likes their tuna medium or cooked through).
Assemble ahi burgers with sesame aioli on the buns, coleslaw, tomatoes, cucumber slices, red onion, avocado, lettuce, and ahi tuna.
